Glutathione reductase (glutathione reductase) is an enzyme that uses reduced NAD(P) to catalyze the reaction of oxidized glutathione (GSSG) into reduced glutathione (GSH) (EC.1.6.4.2). It can be seen in animal and plant tissues, microorganisms, and yeast. The reaction is irreversible. Once dialysis, it will be inactivated and activated by adding Mg2 + or Mn2 +. The enzymes in the mouse liver can almost only use NADP as a coenzyme, but the enzymes in human red blood cells also use NAD to act. Crystallization can be made from yeast. When glutathione reductase, GSSG, NADP and chloroplasts are mixed together and irradiated with light, oxygen will be released. This is the highly valued Hill reaction. Escherichia coli contains flavin in this enzyme. The absence of glutathione reductase makes cells more sensitive to oxidants and antibiotics.
